The season of Santa

By

Two years ago, on November 10, 2024, after a stay in Hawaii, I found myself wandering along Manhattan Beach, California, at 6 a.m. before my flight home.

I had no particular destination. I walked, stopped for coffee, watched the ocean, and let the tears come when they needed too.

I remember feeling something I hadn’t felt in a long time.

Free. Alive. Unstoppable.

Only in a beach town filled with activity at 9 a.m. would Santa Claus be merrily waving as I looked down from the pier where I stopped to reflect on life.

I laughed at the absurdity and thought, Okay, this is my life as I know it.

Life has changed considerably since that day. Some things I believed were secure are no longer certain, and the future looks different from the one I imagined.

Peace doesn’t require a perfect life.

Sometimes it finds us while we’re lost in our thoughts with wooden pier slats beneath our feet, tears on our cheeks, and a Santa Claus waving from the beach.

Perfectly imperfect.

Peace With a Soft Paw 💛🐾
